Spectrum Music News: November/December

Hello Spectrum Music Families,
A big congratulations to our performing students for the month of November:

• Our Concert Choir participated in the 1st Annual Uvic Choral Collaboration with 5 other schools. Everyone left this opportunity energized and inspired by the Uvic Chamber Singers.
• Our Large ensembles took part in the 19th Back in Action concert, an introductory performance for new students to the music department.
• Senior Concert band delivered 4 separate performances for the Remembrance Day ceremonies.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of our parents and students who participated in our 5th Annual Christmas Market. This was a smashing success with most (if not all) vendors wanting to return for next year. Heaps of gratitude to all of our organizers and parents executive for leading the charge!
As we are entering the final leg of 2023, there are few performances and scheduling changes to be aware of:

1. If this has not reached home, we are taking a hiatus from the Santa Parade this year. Please click the link for the most up to date "Important Dates".
2. Our first combined Jazz & Choir concert is a few weeks away. Please follow the link to reserve your tickets. Tickets are first come, first served with Admission to the concert being Food Hamper Donations. Jazz & Choir Winter Concert (PLEASE CLICK THIS LINK FOR TICKET RESERVATIONS)
3. Spectrum Fine Arts Showcase December 13th and 14th. Tickets for these evenings will be sent out in the Schools Newsletter. For new families, this is an evening featuring all facets of our Fine Arts Department ie Music, Dance, Musical Theatre, Drama, Visual Arts etc. The department has trimmed the event to two evenings. Featured ensembles will include: Sr. Jazz Band, Sr. Concert Band, Concert Choir.
4. 2nd Annual Elementary Holiday Tour is December 14th during the day. The Senior Concert Band will be visiting Marigold, View Royal, Northridge,Tillicum and delivering a concert with holiday-sing-a-longs and instrument demonstrations. An itinerary will be made available closer to the event.

In the new year, Jr Concert Band will be visiting middle schools, Jr Jazz a workshop with UJAM society and more. Senior Jazz Band has been invited to open for the Powell River Jazz Festival (more on this soon)! Thats all for now.
