Thank you to the Jr. Jazz Band that performed at our school’s Secondary Information Night last Tuesday. A big thank you as well to all of the students that stayed even later to assist with giving tours around the school, answering parent questions, and manning the band booth in the gym. Some awesome leadership from some awesome kids!
Also, thank you to Alex (Gr.12), Ethan (Gr.11), Brendan (Gr. 12), Erica (Grad 2014!) and Ms. Cable for staying late on Friday to help move a TON of stuff into our new storage container. For the first time in YEARS we now have functional practice rooms that are open to students to practice in and hold sectionals! Thank you for your fundraising efforts over the last year as we would not have been able to purchase this container without all of the fundraising that’s gone on!

4.) Germany Band Tour Updates:
1 Night Only!! – FREE Travel Letter Notarization Night – Monday, January 26th.
The Band Parents Association is providing a FREE travel letter notarization night on Monday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the band room. All students are required to have travel letters notarized to go on tour. Please bring photo ID, your student’s passport, and any other documents required to have your letter notarized (divorce, custody, spouse death certificates, etc.). Students that have parents who are divorced must submit a letter from each parent. If not attending this evening, notarized letters will be due January 30th, 2015.
We also have a large package of information that will be handed out with a lot of travel information and instructions.
All of the forms that need to be completed and brought to the notarization night can be found here. Please make sure that you complete the school district forms and bring them with your student’s passport. Please do not complete the Parent sections on the notarized letter (this needs to be witnessed by the Notary).
The final (YAY!) tour payment is due January 31st.
5.) Band Wear is here!:
Our new line of Band Wear is now available (thank you to Carol for her hardwork on this and our Grade 12s for their input on some changes)! Students can purchase t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, slouchy toques, lanyards, and base-ball t-shirts. An order form can be found here and samples are hanging up in the band room. Orders are due by February 4th. Please make cheques payable to Spectrum Band Parents Association.
Good luck with tests and final exams. Remember to finish strong!
