I hope this finds you doing well! One week left until Spring Break - finish strong!
Congratulation to everyone involved in Evita - It’s been an incredible success! We have one final show on Sunday - a matinee at 2:00pm. To the pit orchestra - thank you and congratulations! This is a DIFFICULT show for students but I am so proud of you for all that you have accomplished together. Thank you to Mrs. Montgomery (Colquitz Middle School) and Mrs. Carruth (Marigold Elementary) for joining the pit family for this show. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Thank you to our senior jazz combo for performing for the school’s Luncheon of Champions on Tuesday afternoon. A job well done according to all sources!
Here’s what we have on the go this week…
1.) Band Classes in Period 1 and 2:
Monday - Band 10 in Period 1.
Tuesday – Sr. Jazz Band in Period 2 (11s/12s not in Sr. Jazz are welcome to a study block in this period), Band 10 in Period 1
Wednesday - Band 10 in Period 1.
Thursday – All grade 9s/10s to PE in Period 1. All grade 11s/12s to English in Period 2.
Friday – All grade 9s/10s to PE in Period 1. All grade 11s/12s to English in Period 2.
Band 9/10 Practice Cards - Turn in Week 25 for marking. Continue recording for Week 26.
2.) Morning, Lunch, After School Rehearsals:
Monday - MARCHING BAND AT 7:30am ,Tour Band Rehearsal at Lunch , None.
Tuesday – Sr. Jazz Band at 7:30am, Jr. Jazz Band at Lunch, Tour Band Rehearsal from 3:15pm - 4:00pm.
Wednesday – Tour Band Rehearsal at 7:30am, Tour Band Rehearsal at Lunch, Tour CREW - Packing After School
Thursday - All outside of the time table rehearsals cancelled due to tour.
Friday - All outside of the time table rehearsals cancelled due to tour.
3.) Drumline at UVic on Sunday
The Spectrum drumline performs at UVic on Sunday morning. Please read the attached running order for more details. PLEASE REMEMBER to set your clocks/phone time ahead one hour on Saturday night. Go Spectrum! Goo Vi
3.) Marching Band Start Up on Monday
Our spring marching band starts rehearsals on Monday at 7:30am sharp. All grade 9 - 12 students are expected to participate. Colour Party will be decided on after Spring Break. Hopefully the weather will be good enough to practice outside (dress appropriately - gum boots, warm coats, etc.). If the weather is nasty, we’ll practice inside in the old gym. Please arrive early to find your spot and avoid the general chaos of 100+ people in a room that’s designed for 60… :)
4.) Glanford Cabaret Night on Tuesday
The Jr. Jazz Band will perform at Glanford’s annual cabaret night on Tuesday, March 14th. Parents are welcome to attend . Tickets are $5 each (includes a delectable dessert, coffee/tea) and can be purchased at the door.
7:15pm - Call Time in full Jr. Jazz uniform (red vest, tie etc.)
7:35pm - Warm-up and Tuning
7:50pm - Move to Gym
8:00pm - GMS jazz band performs, Spectrum jazz band performs, Mass Band performs “Jive at Five”
5.) Mothers Day Hanging Basket Orders
Mothers Day Hanging Basket Orders are due by 2:00pm on Friday, March 17th. As I will be away on tour please place your orders in my mailbox in the office. Please do not wait until 2pm to do so. A student rep. will be picking orders up promptly at 2:00pm.

6.) Band Tour
We leave on Thursday! Call Time for all students is 5:00am. Don’t be late!
MANDATORY TRAVEL MEETING Monday, March 13th at 7:00pm - ALL students traveling on tour and a least one parent/guardian must attend a very important meeting on Monday, March 13th with Mr. House, principal of Spectrum.
