Our 8th “Morning With A Pro” for middle school students was very successful – thank to all of the student volunteers, plus Nadine, Russ, and Ainselie for their assitance in making this event go so smoothly again.
Here’s what we have on the go this week!
1.) Band Classes in Period 1 and 2:
Monday – Band 9 in Period 1.
Tuesday – Band 10 in Period 1, Band 11/12 in Period 2.
Wednesday – Band 9 in Period 1.
Thursday – Band 10 in Period 1, Band 11/12 in Period 2.
Friday (Oct. 2) – Band 9 in Period 1.
Band 9/10 Practice Cards: Turn in week 1 for marking. Start recording home practicing for Week 2, please.
2.) Morning/Lunch/After School Rehearsals:
Monday – Sr. Concert Band at 7:30am, Jr. Jazz at Lunch
Tuesday – Sr. Jazz at 7:30am, Jr. Jazz at Lunch, None.
Wednesday – Sr. Concert Band/Band Breakfast at 7:30am, Sr. Jazz at Lunch, None.
Thursday – Jr. Jazz at 7:30am, Sr. Jazz at Lunch, None.
Friday – Jr. Concert Band at 7:30am, , Band Council Meeting at lunch, None.
3.) UVic Concert – Ticket Information, Media Release
The Senior Band will be performing at UVic on October 16 (Farquhar Auditorium, 8pm). We will have access to the UVic auditorium for a dress rehearsal on the 16th after school. More details to follow.
MEDIA RELEASE: The concert will be streamed live on the School of Music website. ALL band members MUST fill out the attached media release form, have it signed by a parent/guardian and return it to me by Tuesday. DOWNLOAD THE MEDIA RELEASE HERE.
TICKETS: If you are interested in coming to the concert, tickets can be purchased for a reduced rate of $5 per person. Please let me know by Friday this week if you would like to purchase a ticket and forward ticket money to me in a sealed envelope with your name on it. Student performers are admitted for free.
4.) Great Apple Pie Event - This Weekend!
We hope to see everyone out on Saturday, October 3rd in the Spectrum Cafeteria - event start time is 9:00am! It’s a lot of fun and a great team–building opportunity for all students! Alumni, family members, friends, etc. are all welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided by the Spectrum Band Parents Association!
PIE SALES: We have sold 750 pies! 250 more to go! Please keep selling. Please continue to bring in money and order forms this week.
APPLE DONATIONS: We are in desperate need of apples to make this fundraiser work! We will take any kind of apple! Any shape, any size! Apples can be dropped off to the band room throughout the week week. If you have trees that you would like to have picked, please let me know ASAP so I can coordinate student and parent volunteers to help after school one day.
SATURDAY SHIFTS: A shift sign-up has been posted on the door of the band room. Please start signing up for shifts and please taking an afternoon shift. You are welcome to stay longer than your shift but we do need all shifts to be covered.
PIE DELIVERIES: Please make sure that you make arrangements to pick up and deliver your pies starting on Saturday after noon. There is no storage in the school after Sunday morning. If you sold to Spectrum staff, they have been contacted and asked to pick up their orders.
EQUIPMENT: The band program has a limited number of knives, peelers, and cutting boards. You are welcome to bring your own kitchen tools but please put your name on them in case things go missing. Please do not take anything from the Culinary Arts kitchen.
5.) San Fran Band Tour Payment
The next band tour payment is due on Wednesday, September 30th ($325). Please make cheques payable to Spectrum Band Parents Association.
