Bravo Spectrum Band! Your excellent playing in the Tea Party Parade was only topped by your team spirit and enthusiasm along the route. I am proud of you all! We placed second in the Marching Band category and were well supported by fans, parents, teachers, and friends the entire way. Congratulations to everyone involved! PS… I think it’s time to invest in some “summer” uniforms. ;-) If you would like to catch the parade footage, Shaw TV (Channel 4) is airing the parade on June 7 (7:00pm) and June 11 (9:00am).
One more Tea Party “thing”… Are you looking for something to do today (Sunday)? Come see your band director square off against Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen, Mr. Flello, and Mr. Weaver in a feat of courage, skill, and wits... err... rather, we're rowing comically large tea cups across the ocean in front of Willows Beach. It's the Oak Bay Mayor's Challenge Floating Teacup Race TODAY at 3:00pm!
This ends another season on Marching Band at Spectrum – congratulations everybody! Phenomenal work this year in terms of musicality, technique, spirit, and ability! Thank you to all of our band parents for encouraging students to get to practices on time and to meet all the early timings for parades and performances! (Please return all marching band instruments, drums, flags, harnesses, drum sticks, etc. on Monday!)
Congratulations to Grade 12 student Katherine Forster for being accepted to the Fine Arts Department at The University of Victoria! Bravo!
Congratulations to Andrew Montgomery (Grade 11, oboe) and Scott Gordon (Grade 10, tuba) for being accepted to the British Columbia Provincial Honour Wind Ensemble! Andrew and Scott will travel to Richmond in October to rehearse/perform high level repertoire under the baton of an amazing guest conductor, with top student musicians from across BC. Congratulations!
