![]() Hi everyone! CONGRATULATIONS to the Cast, Crew and Pit Orchestra of this years main stage musical "Young Frankenstein". Great music, acting, dancing, sets... lots of laughs! Very proud of everyone involved. Kudos to the young musicians who played right off the same charts broadway musicians play. You all worked extremely hard and the result was a polished show. Bravo!!! We are off to Edmonton tomorrow! As a result, we will be exercising standard "tour protocol". Students not attending have been given instructions on where to go during the week. Grade 11/12s not attending will report to Mr. Parkers Room in Block B all this week. Grade 9/10s will report to Mr Butcher in Block A all this week. Attendance will be taken so ensure you are there on time. Thank you! 1) EDMONTON TOUR ODDS AND ENDS We are off to Alberta tomorrow... YAHOO... or is it... Yeehaw?!!! It is a very early start tomorrow. We are slated to catch the 7am ferry so please arrive no later than 5:15am in the Band room with bags and instrument. By the amount of emails I've received this weekend, it has become clear that your son or daughter has not given you the complete itinerary I provided them last week. Enclosed in this email is a line by line itinerary for your convenience in case you still haven't seen this document. Interac/Debit cards is recommended over cash as all of our bank cards work across the provinces. Allocate roughly $10 a meal for those not covered (and marked in the itinerary). I've encouraged all students to pack a big lunch for their first day on the bus. Students: Bring your DVD(s) of choice for the bus ride :) 2) MOTHERS DAY HANGING BASKETS FUNDRAISER The Spectrum Community School Bands Mothers Day Baskets are back and just in time for the special day! A big thank you to Christine Surridge for arranging this annual fundraiser and spearheading this event. The baskets are supplied by Holland Nurseries. All order forms and payment must be returned to Mr. Jolliffe, no later than 3 pm on Monday, April 1st, 2019. 100% of profit goes to the student’s band account. Forms are available on our website and have been enclosed in this email for your convenience. http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/mothers-day-basket-sales.html 3) A TOUCH OF NEW ORLEANS JAZZ NIGHT Spectrum Community School Bands are hosting an evening fundraising event from 7-10 PM on Friday April 26th, 2019 that showcases the talents of our Jazz Students. This evening of Jazz and delectable desserts will take place at Spectrum Community School and all families, friends, and the entire community is invited to attend. Tickets are $10.00 and are available in advance or at the door. http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/a-touch-of-new-orleans-jazz-night.html A big source of revenue comes from the raffle tickets students sell to their family, friends and community. Raffle tickets are given out in ticket books, with each ticket selling for $2.00. The more tickets a student sells, the greater chances they have of winning the grand prize draw: Acoustic Guitar provided by Long and McQuade, 2nd Prize Draw: $50.00 @ Tapestry Music, 3rd Prize Draw: Cineplex Tickets for two. Grade 9/10's: Christine Surridge will visit your Block A class tomorrow. Please listen carefully as it will ensure you have everything you need to know to get in on the prizes. Band students or parents who are familiar with raffle ticket sales... if you wish to get more tickets, contact Cheryl Bowes as she will hand them out to whomever inquire: cheryl.bowes@shaw.ca That is all for now, have a fantastic week and an even better Spring Break. You should be very proud of what you've accomplished so far. High fives all around!
