I forgot a group of thank yous in my last email: Thank you to all of our student volunteers on Friday who were not in a jazz band! I had lots of positive feedback about our students who were serving/waiting tables. Thanks also to our set-up and tear down crews for a job well done! 1.) The band managers will also have Mother's Day Hanging Basket orders ready. Please make arrangements to pick up your orders on Saturday… I'm a terrible gardener and your plants won't make it to Monday… Thank you for supporting our fundraisers. It was great to hear that several Grade 9 and 10 students paid for their entire Disney-band trip by fundraising! Thanks everyone! Have a great week. Jamie Davis Hi Everyone,
Well, we've had a busy couple of days! Thanks to everyone that came out to support our New Orleans Jazz Night tonight! A big thanks goes out to Carol Davis, Sue Pyke, Maureen Butler and all the parents that helped make tonight a success. Thank you to my students in the jazz bands that played so well tonight as well – hard to do after a long day on the road yesterday, and a full day of school today. Well done, folks. :) Our trip up to Port Alberni was also a huge success! Thank you to our chaperones: Carol Davis, Sue Pyke, Lynda Charchuk, and Ron Zicari for coming and helping out! Our Jr. and Sr Concert bands earned ratings of Superior-Plus (all marks in Superior in 45 different categories… everything ranging from playing technique to attitude, responsiveness, and concentration). These are the highest and most consistent ratings that my students have ever earned in 7 years here and I am really proud of them. Not only did these kids play well, but they were also excellent ambassadors for Spectrum. I had numerous teachers from ADSS, festival volunteers, photographers, and even other band directors come and let me know how polite, kind, and supportive Spectrum kids were. Thank you! Tonight, I learned that both bands have received standing invitations to MusicFest Canada (the national concert band festival) in Toronto! Bravo! We have a 2 year window to go to this festival now. Thank you all, again for all that you do as parents, and especially as students in my program. You truly make this the best job, possible and I'm really thankful for being able to come to work everyday and work with amazing human beings. Sincerely, Jamie Davis Hi All,
