First of all, thank you to our marching band for a great performance at the Esquimalt Buccaneer’s Day Parade yesterday. You did a fantastic job and brought smiles to so many people’s faces yesterday. Bravo, all! I am very proud of you! Thank you to all of the parents that helped in our marshalling area and helped/cheered as the band made it’s way along the parade route. I don’t want to put students and their families in a position where they may have to cross a picket-line. While the teacher job action is still “up in the air” at this point, I do know that there will be NO picket lines up tomorrow (Monday, June 16th). I am asking for your assistance in returning instruments and band uniforms tomorrow. Please make arrangements to drop off instruments and uniforms TOMORROW at the following times: **The school secretaries will have the band room will open from 8:30am – 4:00pm for instrument/uniform drop-offs (students please do not "hang out” in the band room :) **Carol and the band moms will be at the school from 6:00pm – 8:00pm tomorrow night

Sorry for the delay in getting this out to you… Thank you to all of the marching band students who participated in the Oak Bay Tea Party! Really great work, all – playing, citizenship, attitude, EVERYTHING! Thank you to all of the parents that helped with driving, hair braiding, uniforms, and marshalling. A big thank you to grads Cody Miller, Katie Herchak, Larissa McCormick, and Peter White who all came back and helped with the parade as well! Morning Rehearsals Monday – FINAL Sr. Concert Band Rehearsal. No absences, please. Tuesday – None. No school! Wednesday to Friday – NONE. All morning rehearsals/classes are now done for the year. Lunch Rehearsals (Note changes on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) Monday – SR. JAZZ BAND Tuesday – None. No school! Wednesday – JR. JAZZ BAND (Music collection/sorting and folder return) Thursday – SR. JAZZ BAND (Music collection/sorting and folder return). Friday – None. Period 1&2 Classes Monday – Combined BAND 9 AND 10 class in Period 1 Tuesday - None. No school! Wednesday – Band 10 class in Period 1(Music collection and folder return). Thursday – Band 9 class in Period 1 (Music collection and folder return), Band 11/12 class in Period 2 (Music collection and folder return) Friday – Band 10 class in Period 1 Monday Night - Band Concert Again, the year end band concert has been changed to Monday, June 9th – 7:00pm at Alix Goolden Hall (Victoria Conservatory of Music, located at 900 Johnson Street). Admission is by donation (all funds go towards the rental of this wonderful venue). Parents that are able to help with driving equipment to the VCM please meet at Spectrum at 3:00pm. Student Loading crew - be prepared to help load trucks and vans at 3:00pm. The Alix Goolden hall is a great place to perform but it can be warm. I suggest bringing water with you as we are not able to hold a concession in house. Please advise if your student is not able to make this concert due to the date change (due to rotating strike). Saturday - Esquimalt Buccaneers Day Parade Our final event of the year is the Esquimalt Buccaneers Day Parade (Marching Band, obviously… ;)) held on Saturday, June 14th. Students will need to meet on the corner of Old Esquimalt Road and Aldebury Street at 8:00am. A running order will be released on Thursday when I receive our parade position from the organizing committee. We hope to see you there - this has been a good year for our marching band! Here’s what we have on the go this week: 1.) Period 1 & 2 Classes This Week All period 1 & 2 classes run as usual (except for Thursday - No school). Friday Schedule: Grade 9s – Band Grade 10s – PE Grade 11/12 – Band Band 9/10 Practice Cards – Submit week 38, start week 39. 2.) Morning/Lunch/ Rehearsals All morning and lunch rehearsals are running as usual (except for Thursday - No school). 3.) Requirements The deadline to complete Term 4 Requirements is Wednesday June 18th at 3pm. Finish strong! Get the work in, please! No extensions past June 18th. 4.) Marching Band in The Oak Bay Tea Party Parade - This Saturday The Oak Bay Tea Party is on Saturday, June 7th. All marching band members needs to meet at Windsor Park (corner of Newport and Windsor in Oak Bay) at 9:00am. The parade starts at 10:30am and we will be finished around 12:00pm. Parents can meet us at Windsor Park for rides home. Ladies, be prepared for Spanish braiding… err… French braiding! No uniform issues, please. We are still in need of more help with braiding. Year End Concert at Alix Goolden Hall Our final all-bands performance of the year is held at the Victoria Conservatory of Music (900 Johnson St) on Tuesday, June 10th at 7:00pm. Admission is by donation (Your donations help us to rent this first-class venue for our students to perform in). Student call time is 6:00pm in the hall, wearing the first uniform that you will be performing in. It is essential that students be ready to start a walk-through of the show order at 6:00pm. Please do not be late. 6.)
