Good Afternoon Everyone!
Thank you to everyone that came out to our final bottle drive of the year on Saturday. Together you raised over $500 for the band program general accounts! Thank you to all the kids and parents that came out to our Year End BBQ on Saturday afternoon as well! A HUGE thank you Bob and Elaine McIlveen for hosting this event when the rains came at Elk Lake! Finally, I would like to take this time to thank all of our parents and students for a wonderful year of music at Spectrum! We had so many successes this year and I am so proud of everyone in this program. It is truly a pleasure to work with all of you and, as I’ve said before, I can’t believe that I get paid to come to “work” and do this every day. I wish you all the best over the summer and look forward to seeing many of you back next year! - J. Davis A few final things for your consideration... 1.) DATE CHANGE: Spectrum Band Parents Association Final Meeting & AGM Please note that the Spectrum Band Parents Association Final Meeting and AGM has been RESCHEDULED to MONDAY, JUNE 27TH AT 7:00PM IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY (originally scheduled for Wednesday, June 22nd). We will be emailing information forms and intent to travel forms to returning students shortly. Thanks for your patience! Personal Instruments/Clothing etc.: Don’t forget to take your personal instruments home with you this week. There are also some gumboots, PE strip (uhh.. Ew!), BandWear, binders etc. still here. Summer Instrument Loans: Come and see me on Tuesday after school if you would like to borrow an instrument over the summer. Grad Account Reimbursement: Grads wishing to withdraw money from their fundraising account have until Friday June 24th to submit reimbursement forms (Forms can be found HERE!) Sincerely, Jamie Davis Hi Everyone,
Thank you for a wonderful Year End Concert at Alix Goolden Hall on Tuesday! All groups performed SO well! Thank you to the grads for the tribute – the messages, the gifts, and the… t-shirt! Thank you to all of the parents and the loading crew that helped with moving gear. Thanks to Mrs. Montgomery for navigating rush-hour traffic with 4 timpani, a set of chimes, and a concert bass drum on a trailer – if anyone needs to move, give her and Andrew a shout! Thanks to everyone that came out last weekend to cheer me on at the Tea Cup Race in Oak Bay, too! It was… something… :D I really appreciated the support, the signs, the cheering, and the promises of rescue if I drowned! Bravo Spectrum Band! Your excellent playing in the Tea Party Parade was only topped by your team spirit and enthusiasm along the route. I am proud of you all! We placed second in the Marching Band category and were well supported by fans, parents, teachers, and friends the entire way. Congratulations to everyone involved! PS… I think it’s time to invest in some “summer” uniforms. ;-) If you would like to catch the parade footage, Shaw TV (Channel 4) is airing the parade on June 7 (7:00pm) and June 11 (9:00am). One more Tea Party “thing”… Are you looking for something to do today (Sunday)? Come see your band director square off against Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen, Mr. Flello, and Mr. Weaver in a feat of courage, skill, and wits... err... rather, we're rowing comically large tea cups across the ocean in front of Willows Beach.
