![]() Good evening everyone, What a fun and busy week in the spectrum music program! Holy smokes it is almost October! This Saturday, 106 Grade 6 students rushed the stage and performed in their very first concert during "Morning with a Pro." THANK YOU to my students who participated this Saturday. You made a positive, lasting impression on our young musicians! Thank you to Christine Surridge, Mo Jessa and all of the parents/students who participated in our very first Chuck-a-Puck... the program came home with over $1600 which we will put towards updating some well-used equipment. Bravo! Finally, Thank you to Bonnie McCallum and her team of parents who spent two nights outfitting and re-fitting our students with their band uniforms. What a great team!!! Here are a few announcements for everyone, please read carefully: 1) Spectrum Bottle Drive, October 5th Our first bottle drive is fast approaching... 100% of the proceeds go to the students and parents participating. Of the 100+ students in the program, only 44 have registered for their bottle drives... yikes :( Your participation (whilst mandatory) is a great community builder, money maker and believe it or not, fun! Please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf2PC3UV0RMXB_xW1KhdF26NhaPcLLdiHZPu66jMRnlulYOrg/viewform 2) 2nd Annual Christmas Market Both Tracey G. and Cheryl B. have been working around the clock, networking vendors and making our biggest fundraiser of the year a success. To date, we have 66 vendors registered with applications still coming in! We want to draw as much attention to this event to make sure people are going through the doors. Please help spread the word by clicking "Like" or "Interested" or "Going" on our facebook event page. This will populate on your page, thus showing many more people this is happening. If you know of anyone who wants to participate: http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/spectrum-band-annual-christmas-craft-fair.html 3) Cops for Cancer We are in our last week of Cops for Cancer. As you may or may not know, my hair is going under the clippers this Thursday and would appreciate your support. Any pledges go a long way to supporting this charity. While I will shave my head, the program set a goal for $500 to shave the beard as well. All donations can be sent to the bandroom or office in an envelope. Thank you for your support! ***Classes Scheduled as usual- Practice Cards Week 3 are Due Tomorrow*** Thank you everyone! Hi everyone!
What a fantastic week at Spectrum. Our music program is running on all cylinders and I couldn't be more pleased. All ensembles have met at least once and the rehearsal schedule is well underway (http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/rehearsal-schedule.html). A huge welcome and congrats to our incoming class of grade 9's. They are funny, they are kind and they are very musical!!! It has been a pleasure to meet them and start making music as a group. So happy to see my returning students as well as NEW students in all grades. Welcome to a great group of people! 1. A few immediate changes to our performance schedule and events: A) Back in Action Concert featuring Spectrum's Large Ensembles: Junior Concert Band, Senior Concert Band and Concert Choir will now take place on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019. Same time, same location (Spectrum Community School). B) Grade 9 Uniform night has been shifted to September 24th to account for drycleaning returns and organization. Grade 10-12 has been shifted to Wednesday, September 25th. 2. Spectrum Band Chuck-a-Puck, September 27th, 2019 Spectrum Band is excited to partner up with our very own Victoria Royals Hockey team. This is a great opportunity for us to generate some income for much needed items in our band program... this could include: Choir Folders, A sousaphone, Trumpets, Percussion equipment, Band shoes... the list goes on! In exchange for selling tickets to some of the Royals home games this season, we are the lucky group to be selling numbered foam pucks for the 2nd intermission "Chuck-a-Puck" which has the potential to make a serious dent in our wish list! This fundraiser can raise approximately $2000, but we need your help! Please follow the link to sign up: https://forms.gle/wucwn5HaBEJK6gH87 3.) Bottle Drives (#1 is coming up quick!)
