It is official, all rehearsals resume in the Spectrum Music Department! Yahoo! I look forward to seeing students in the Senior Concert Band, Concert Choir and our two Jazz bands this week : ) For returning students, please remember that our rehearsal schedule has changed slightly. Baton drops 8am so please arrive with plenty of time to arrange your music, seating and warm up (hint hint: 7:45 would give you heaps of time to get comfortable and ready to have fun). http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/rehearsal-schedule.html Housekeeping Items Bell Covers: If this is your first rehearsal, please ensure that you have made the following bell cover. Instructions are universal, alter the size based on the instrument you play. The bell cover YouTube video can be found here: https://youtu.be/OK_x5bGQMaM Band Folders: Please return your band folder and music as soon as possible. This allows us to sort our music, organize and take stock of what is still missing. Uniform Rental Agreement: The uniform rental agreement and deposits are now overdue. The $150 is held in trust and is only deposited if the uniform is returned with missing pieces. The $50.00 is deposited and used for yearly maintenance, repair and new purchases. A receipt will be written for those who submit cash. If paying by cheque, please make payable to: Spectrum Band Parents. Uniform Return Schedule: **All Uniforms (Sr. Band, Jr. Band, Sr. Jazz, Jr. Jazz) must be returned this week. We will be sending each piece to the drycleaners and taking a tally for replacement items. Everyone's due diligence is greatly appreciated in this undertaking, please do your part.** Tuesday 8am-8:50am: Seniors (Gr. 12) Place all of your items on appropriate hangers, place your shoes in the bottom of the garment bag with the laces tied together. Place it on rack next to the music folders cabinet. Wednesday 8am-8:50am: Grade 11's Place all of your items on appropriate hangers, place your shoes in the bottom of the garment bag with the laces tied together. Thursday 8am-8:50am: Grade 10's Place all of your items on appropriate hangers, place your shoes in the bottom of the garment bag with the laces tied together. What a pleasure it was to see students return to Spectrum! I look forward to working and catching up with all of you over the course of the year. Despite our late start, we will press ahead and continue making music, adhering to the protocols recommended by our health officer and provincial association (BCMEA). This week, Students will receive (in the meetings listed below) a full Spectrum Band Covid Safety Plan which you will need to review together. I am confident our plan will take care of any possible questions or concerns you may have. Here is our first week at Spectrum: 1) What do I need for the first week back?! All grades will need to bring an old t-shirt, scissors and regular materials needed for their Block A and C classes. No instruments needed at this time, unless otherwise noted. Please refer to the meeting times listed below as to not miss any important information. 2) 2020/2021 Spectrum Band Schedule Spectrum students had the opportunity to pick up their timetables for the year. Due to COVID, all High Schools in Greater Victoria have moved to a Quartered system. Fortunately, much of how our Fine Arts Department operates remains the same... with an altered schedule (enclosed). Junior Concert Band Members (Grade 9 and 10): Meeting in class. Senior Concert Band Members (Grade 11 and 12): Meeting Wednesday, September 16th @ 8am in Theatre. No Instruments. Junior Jazz Band: Meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15th @ Lunch. No Instruments Senior Jazz Band: Meeting Thursday, Sept.17th @ Lunch. No Instruments Concert Choir: Meeting Wednesday, Sept.16th @ Lunch EARLY MORNING, LUNCH HOUR REHEARSALS BEGIN SEPTEMBER 21ST ONWARDS. 3) Spectrum Band & Choir Student Check in Spectrum Band students, please complete this google form ASAP as it will enable us to organize instrument rentals, ensemble placements and general organization. https://forms.gle/kPSoSfMJaZXYwLLv5 4) Fundraising For new families, Each Spectrum musician fundraises for their own account, which can help offset the costs of any events or trips Spectrum Band participates with All due dates are FINAL and students & families will be reminded when different orders are due.
