It’s an exciting time here in the Spectrum Music Department… all bands have had an opportunity to meet, rehearse and make music! Numbers are strong and the opportunity to get to know students and staff has been appreciated! Thank you all who came out to the Spectrum Band Parents Association. They are a dedicated group of parents who welcome anyone who might be interested in helping out, big or small! Feel free to email: firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information on how to help out!
Thank you to all band members for taking part in our first bottle drive of the school year. Thanks to Russ Forster for heading up the big day and showing me the ropes on how we do a bottle drive “Spectrum Style”. Despite falling a day after recycling day, we managed to raise roughly $980 for the band program and music students! Thank you very much for participating and the community support!
Congratulations to the Spectrum Drumline who performed at the Cops 4 Cancer Kick-off BBQ! Thank you to Cynthia and Bonnie for getting the Polos ready!!! They performed well, leading our principal Mr. House into the gym with a “new haircut”. Check our facebook page for the video J

All students were given a package of forms during their first band classes. Forms and cheques are now overdue. Please return the Student/Parent Information Sheet, the Uniform Agreement (and 2 cheques) and the signed Cover Page as soon as possible. This helps me to make sure that I have correct contact information for you and your family. Please check with your student if you have not received this yet. Let me know if you would like me to email copies of the forms home to you.
4)The Band’s GREAT APPLE PIE EVENT! - Year 12
Our big fall FUNraiser has started! This will be my first Great Apple Pie event and I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and take part in my inaugural pie journey!
Every year band students canvass the neighbourhood and pre-sell our homemade apple pies for $12 each. They are DELICIOUS, are homemade by our band students, and come packaged ready for you to bake and eat OR freeze for a later date. We encourage all students to sell pies to family, friends, neighbours, and teachers. Students will earn money for their individual band accounts and earn money for the band to purchase new instruments and sheet music.
WE ARE IN NEED OF APPLE DONATIONS! Please let me know if you have apples to donate to this fundraiser. We do not have a lot of storage at the school – if you can hold onto your apples until Friday, September 29th that would be really helpful! If not, we will try to figure out a storage solution. If you need students to come and pick your trees, please let me know as well.

On the Horizon,
Uniform sizing October 3rd and 4th. We need many hands to help… if you can sew, pin, iron, pass words of encouragement, we would love to have you help. It is a big undertaking and the more the merrier J
