Hi Band Families!
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Fine Arts Showcase performances last week! All three evening showcases were really successful and sold out quickly! The daytime showcases for Glanford and Colquitz (on Friday) went very well too – thank you Senior Jazz Band! A big congratulations to Ryan Stewart (gr. 11 drums), Cam Henderson (gr. 11 trombone/keyboard), Fynn Bosomworth (gr. 11 guitar), and Ethan Sawyer (gr. 12 bass guitar) for performing in the pit band for the junior musical theatre classes (in addition to the concert band and jazz bands) – way to go guys!
It’s a lot to do 5 showcases in 3 days especially with the end of Semester 1 approaching. Thank you all for staying positive and working so hard to make this collaboration successful!

3.) End of Term 2 / Requirements Due
Friday, January 22nd marks the end of Term 2 for Band. This means 3 things…
a.) “Requirements” (musical assignments, method book studies, scales, etc) for Band 9-12 are due on Friday by 5:00pm. They may be performed in class, in my office privately, uploaded to the band website from your PC or MAC (visit: http://spectrumbandvictoria.weebly.com/requirements--online-submission.html ), or emailed from your phone to firstname.lastname@example.org. Scales must be performed LIVE and must be memorized (they are marked as pass/fail). Studies from the various method books are marked out of 10 (a half mark off for each mistake… wrong notes, rhythms, articulations etc.). If you earn a less than desirable mark you can "re-test" as many times as you would like until you get a better mark.
b.) Practices cards for Grade 9 and 10 band students are due on Friday by 5:00pm. Please make sure that your parents have signed your practice card weeks. Also, please make sure you put the total number of minutes that you practiced in the “Total” column. I’m terrible at Math!
c.) Any other outstanding assignments are due on Friday as well.
4.) Secondary Information Night Performance – Jr. Jazz Band – Wednesday Night
Junior Jazz Band will again open our Secondary Information Night on Wednesday, January 20th in the school gym. Band student call time is 6:15pm in full uniform (ironed white shirt, black pants, black shoes, LONG BLACK SOCKS, blue vest, and blue tie). We will be finished around 7:15pm.
A running order will be available on Monday during Jr. Jazz Band rehearsal.
Good luck to all of you as we enter exam week! Finish strong!
