Thank you to everyone that came out to help at our 9th Annual Great Apple Pie Event! We successfully made 888 apple pies on Saturday. It was a bit of a long day with smaller numbers of volunteers this year and a HUGE thanks goes to all of the parents and students that stayed until that last pie was made and helped with clean-up! Students, please make sure you deliver your pie orders in a timely manner. Congratulations to our three top sellers this year: Jacob Davis (57 pies), Nathan Freeman (88 pies), and Alyssa Zicari (159 pies – WOW!).

3.) Bottle Drives/Volunteer Driving
Our next bottle drive is on Saturday, October 25th (9am-1pm at Spectrum). We hope to see you there! Your fundraising efforts help to buy equipment, music, instruments, and off-set the cost of travel to festivals. Saturday, Oct 25th will be our 2nd BOTTLE DRIVE of the year and will be held in the school parking lot form 9-1, a hot dog lunch will follow. Parent drivers receive DOUBLE CREDIT to their student's accounts. Let’s continue to keep our FIRST PLACE SPOT WITH ENCORP/BOTTLE DEPOT for the $3500.00 prize! We are looking for 12-15 drivers, 10-12 parents for sorting & lots of students for bottle canvassing.
If you are interested in helping as a volunteer driver please, note that you are now required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and a Driver’s Abstract. I have attached information from the school that went out in August.
In short, please ensure the following are taken care of before the end of October if you wish to help with driving:
1. Complete our school’s “Volunteer Driver Form” (attached) and provide a copy of driver’s license and insurance.
2. Phone ICBC to get a copy of driver’s abstract. To find the phone number for the nearest ICBC office go to: http://icbc.com/driver-licensing/driving-record. Volunteer drivers will bring the driver’s abstract to the school.
3. Apply online for a Criminal Record Check at https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/home.htm using the school’s access code. The Criminal Record Check will be sent directly to the school’s email.

BAND PARENT MEETING & AGM
Wednesday Oct 22 @7 in the school library. Please join us & see what this amazing program has to offer and we will also be holding our AGM elections for all positions: President, Vice President, Band Manager, Treasurer, Secretary, Uniforms, Communication & members at large. The current executive is now in our last year since our kids are graduating in June 2015. If you’re interested in any of these positions please don’t hesitate to ask (we have parents interested in treasurer, secretary & uniforms). There is a great opportunity over the next year to shadow with the current parents to ease the transition into the following school year.
GREY CUP PARADE
Our kids will be proudly marching in the GREY CUP PARADE in Vancouver, Saturday, November 29th. The BAND PARENT ASSOCIATION will be off-setting some of the costs, the cost per student will be $20 to help with ferry & bus charges. We will be leaving the school for the 7 am ferry & returning home on the 3:00 ferry, Saturday afternoon. A small snack & water will be provided, kids can either bring meals or money for purchasing meals. Students will be wearing their uniforms for the day. No luggage required as we will be limited on space to hold instruments. Forms & more details will be sent home shortly.
Parent volunteers that will be driving are also required to complete an ONLINE CRIMINAL CHECK, there is no charge for volunteers & it takes less than 5 minutes to complete online.
The 10th payment is due, October 31st. We now have 3 spots remaining. If you’re interested, forms are available from the Band Room or email Carol Davis (firstname.lastname@example.org) directly & she can forward them to you.
Thanks everyone! Have a great week!
