Good Morning Spectrum Music Families,
It is great to be back in the swing of things in the Spectrum Music Department! I have enjoyed meeting our new students and re-connecting with those moving up in grade. Our ensembles (Concert Bands, Jazz Bands and Choir) have been hard at work in rehearsals, building set lists for future concerts. We look forward to sharing our music with you over the next few months. All concerts are ticketed through Eventbrite, with an email link (typically) being released 16 days prior to the event. We offer rush seating, first come first served. Congratulations to members of the Spectrum Drumline who lead this year's riders of the Tour de Rock Cops for Cancer into our gym. This is a time-honoured tradition, one that has been missing over the last 4 years. They provided energy for the cyclists as well as our student body and was appreciated by staff and students alike. BRAVO! A huge THANK YOU to Christine, Tarrie and Allison for their time and energy helping with Uniforms this year. It is a massive undertaking and my appreciation cannot be understated (Thank you thank you thank you!!!). I appreciate your help in making sure our students look as good as they sound! Heads up! Our Uniform and Instrument Agreement Forms are past due for Grades 9 and 10. Please have these forms & money returned no later than October 14th. These forms are available for print here. Band 11/12 students will have received their hand out today in class. Our 4th Annual Christmas Market is less than a month away (November 5th/6th). This is our biggest fundraiser of the year for the Music Department AND for our students. A sign-up genius email along with information about the event will be sent out shortly. This year, the Spectrum Band Parents are introducing a Bake Sale for the event. Based on the amount of cookies and cakes I have been offered over the years, I know for a fact there are some so confectionary wunderkinds, please consider helping out Our 2023 Spectrum Band Tour dates have been finalized: April 11th-17th. Trip Itineraries and a complete cost breakdown will be made available next week. Priority goes first to our Senior Group followed by Grade 10's and 9's. Poinsettias will go on sale early/mid November. Forms will go out (more than likely) after Halloween. This is another fundraiser by which all portions of proceeds, go towards subsidizing band trips for individual students.
